A Courageous Spirit

January 04, 2022

Happy New Year Family!!

Please be led by the Holy Spirit when it comes to your personal prayer and fasting time. As you look at the prayer life of Jesus, He didn't just teach it...He lived it! Prayer was important to Jesus, and it should be important to us. If you plan to get closer to the Lord, we must examine our own prayer life, and improve our time with God one day at a time.

As we walk into 2022, there is a character trait that we all have that at times go un-used. The character trait of “Courage”. Courage is something that we all possess. It is the ability to do something that frightens you or takes you out of your zone of comfort. Jesus reminds us that in this world, we will suffer tribulation and challenges. (John 16:33) It is through the difficult and uncomfortable moments of trials, disappointment, discouragement, and suffering where we develop courage.

In Joshua Chapter 1, Moses dies, and Yahweh begins to speak to Joshua reminding him there is still work to be done. He reminded Joshua there is a battle to be won, land to possess, and a promise to be fulfilled. The Lord encouraged Joshua that God will never abandon, leave, or forsake him. If you keep reading in Joshua Chapter 1, you will notice that the Lord reminded Joshua multiple times to be “strong and be of good courage”. The Lord also stressed to Joshua the importance of having a courageous spirit while observing and obeying the Word of God.

2021 was bitter-sweet for all of us. The Grace, Love, Peace, and Comfort of Jesus was with you every step of the way. The bible makes it clear that no matter what season we are in, “goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives”. Let us be reminded of the importance being strong while being dependent and submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We don’t know what the future may hold, but we certainly know who holds our future. The future is promising for you and there are new doors of opportunity for ministry in our churches, homes, and our communities. In this season, stand on the promises of God knowing that the Lord will never leave you or abandon you.

As you strive to walk closer with Jesus in 2022, may the Lord give you a courageous spirit this year. The best is yet to come!

Amazed By His Grace,

Pastor Damon L. Owens
